For all credential program classes with clinical practice requirements this year, we implemented a video assessment component. Teacher candidates video-taped themselves instructing and assessing students in their assignments. Each course used specific criteria based on the revised TPEs and new standards to determine the instruction and activities for review. Faculty were taught about video compression in an August workshop and worked in teams to develop an instructional video of their own. Teacher candidates were offered workshops to learn about video compression and uploading to LiveText for assessment. Faculty assessed their teacher candidates in LiveText using specific annotations that candidates were able to review and learn from the targeted feedback. 100% of main campus faculty and teacher candidates participated in the pilot. We will spend time this summer analyzing the feedback and suggestions for full implementation in Fall 2017.
